@bradenslen The first of the batch has arrived! Details, photos, and even audio here: Acquisition: 196X Smith-Corona (SCM) Galaxie Deluxe 10 – 6T2V Series Manual Typewriter ✍🏼
Preview:
@chrisaldrich This is a blast from the past. These photos could be the typewriter my grandparents gave me, new in the early 1970's just before I entered high school. It's the typewriter that saw me through university.
At $18 you got a great buy and I'm jealous. As you point out with the features, this manual typewriter had just about everything you could cram into a portable and it all works! And IMHO it has an attractive design to it to boot.
I'm happy you found such a great bargain.
@bradenslen Its slightly bigger (elite) older brother in green showed up by FedEx today: The Smith-Corona Classic 12 (1965). It'll have to wait a few days for better photos, evaluation, and cleaning, but until then:
@chrisaldrich it’s hard to describe how much I love this picture! No idea what the ‘power space’ key does, but it must do something awesome!
@writingslowly Personally, I double checked twice before I bought it via online auction to make sure it was a manual typewriter and not an electric because of it. When they say power though, they mean mechanical power through and through. I'll try to get a video of what it does (and maybe how, once I've got it opened for cleaning.)
@chrisaldrich can’t wait to see it in action! After all, none of my fancy computers have ever had ‘power space’!
@chrisaldrich It's just so beautiful. I don't need one, I positively know that, after fiddling with it for the novelty of the first days, I would not use a typewriter on the long run. But they're so beautiful... My wife is already looking at me funny, she knows my face when I look fascinated by something on the internet. She knows it will costs us money and she will have to bear with a new gadget lying around 😂.
@bradenslen The acquisition spree continues with Acquisition: 1957 Remington Quiet-Riter with Miracle Tab Manual Typewriter 🎉

@chrisaldrich Another great find! I like the powder coat finish, the 1950's styling and the green keys.
I just had a thought about typecasting with a manual typewriter, one can blog even when the power goes out. Just crank out those cards and post them later when the power comes back on. Candles not included.
@chrisaldrich I will cherish this card typed just for me, Chris, thanks (and my wife said the pair of shoes is a very good idea ;-)
@chrisaldrich wow! Imagine that many spaces in the wrong hands. With great power(-space) comes great responsibility!
@bradenslen The typewriter acquisition spree comes to a glorious close with a mint blue Remington Streamliner ultra-portible:
@chrisaldrich That is sleek and beautiful. I'm not that familiar with Remington's but from looking at this they had some good designers. Nice buy.
