@Denny @mbkriegh @jean Any suggestions for emoji to use? One problem with our emoji approach is that some topics just don't have any obvious emoji. It works best when it's something people might use naturally anyway.

@Denny I agree and hope @manton and @jean hear us on the emoji… at the moment, this is my leading thought for a long form post this coming weekend… i like sharing what we are doing/trying to do… it seemed to me that a lot of the conversations are about the latest signs of how bad it is getting and but very little what we are actually doing in our lives about it…

@mbkriegh @Denny @jean Another solution we could adopt is to actually collect posts automatically whenever they mention "climate", because that's such an obvious keywords. There could be an emoji like 🌎 or 🌡️ but it would be optional.

@Denny @manton @mbkriegh @jean Count me as a vote in favor of the earth emoji. I would prefer that to the thermometer because it can be more broad, including both news and comment on ecological issues instead of global temperatures specifically. Also--I don't know--it feels more constructive or something. It's what we're for rather than what we're worried about.

@mbkriegh Are emojis discoverable in a long-form post? I know that @ replies are not.

@gdp Good point, thank you. This is where our curation approach helps, because we can exclude posts when we notice they don't belong. Of course if there are a lot of mismatched posts, it starts to become unwieldy.

@pratik IDK, but most of my posts on the topic will be short form and there’s always doing a short form teaser with a quote and emoji if it doesn’t work in long form.
