It’s been a while since we have done a Micro Monday roll call. (We’ve been doing a series of roll calls to help like-minded folks find each other.) This week’s topic is gardeners.

Green thumbs, leave a comment here, mention a favorite 🌱 so others will find and follow you.

@jean I spent the weekened spreading around a yard of dirt to built up my spring beds. I have a black oak that is taking root in the back of one of my beds and it is in an open enough area I am going to let it go and see what happens. (Cedar Park, Texas)

@jean This is a great idea. Thanks for doing it. I've been interested in native plants, specifically for the purpose of attacting pollinators and creating a welcoming backyard habitat in my small city lot. It's a total cliche in this context, but my favorite plant right now is butterfly weed. 🌱

@jean ahhhhhhhhh so many favorites. All my plants are my favorites. (The unfavorites are now compost.) Right now, I'm really enjoying watching my Japanese maples leaf out. Two are red, one is green with bright red keys. These are lovely garden trees for our small yard.

@jean I’m a gardener because things are going to grow anyway; they might as well be things I like. Just planted the leafy vegetables this past weekend. 🌱

@jean I wish that I gardened more, but the yard has lots of natural growth with the crocuses coming up now. Inside I garden year round with a hydroponic Click&Grow system and love having fresh basil year round. 🌱

@jean I have in the past gardened many things but right now all that can hold my attention is a little tree grown from an avocado pit.

@kimberlyhirsh All I have is a “wild” poppy kit from Trader Joe’s that has many stems but no blooms. I might try an avocado next.

@bitdepth I’d love to hear more about Click and Grow. I’d love to have fresh basil! I encourage you to do a post with photos.

@jean We’re having an unusually cool and wet spring in the PNW so my house is full of leggy tomato plants and everything else is an inch and a half tall.

I am not a gardener. My house plants die, and I don't do well in the flower beds outside. I was never one to like the "manicured look." However, my husband and I are learning more about sustainable gardening and food forests. We started composting this year, and I am enjoying learning more about medicinal herbs and plants for health and wellness. I am looking forward to how our property will change over the next few years.

@jean After a lazy few years, I plan on tidying up my veg patch and get growing again. Chillies are my passion.
