This is the time of year when a non-chronological timeline is super annoying. Half of what I see on Instagram is pre-Christmas anticipation… instead of post-Christmas regret and disappointment.

@macgenie couldn't agree more. Birthdays and Thanksgiving are made worse by it, too.
@macgenie I’ve was having a wicked similar thought this morning! Micro.blog is mos-def starting to usurp my use of Instagram...just got to get it fam onboard with micro.blog now.
@eli I'm using OwnYourGram, so usually when I want to post a photo, I start on Instagram. OwnYourGram cross-posts to Micro.blog, which cross-posts to Twitter and Facebook. That way no one misses cute guinea pig photos.
@macgenie Does micro.blog support non-square images? In the iOS app, it seems like they’re all square.
@macgenie how often does Ownyourgram poll? I posted on Instagram 7-8 hours ago but still no post to my endpoint...
@macgenie I applaud your dedication in spreading guinea pig cuteness. The world would be a poorer place without it. :D
@macgenie @frank OwnYourGram has adaptive polling based on the frequency of your Instagram posting. OwnYourGram Docs
@macgenie That's never worked for me. I get the “No supported rel="me" links were found on your site!” message.
@EddieHinkle @macgenie Yeah I know. But for some reason my latest Instagram photo isn't sent by OwnYourGram. It's visible in the list of 20 latest photos but that's it. The log of my endpoint (a script on Heroku) doesn't give a clue either...
@frank @macgenie I think it depends on how actively you’re posting. The more photos you post the faster it polls. Sometimes I wait overnight for photos to appear because I don’t post that often.
@stefp @macgenie yeah that's my plan as well. I'll wait for tomorrow when it's definitely > 24 hours. But I posted quite a few photos the last 3 days so I had the idea polling would be in the 6 hour range.
@pratik If you change that to your Micro.blog pratik.micro.blog URL, the rel="me" should work. I had the same issue. You can change it back after validating. Let me know if that works.
@frank great! It actually depends on how often you post to Instagram. The more you post the faster it'll send them to your site. I'll consider upping the interval for the first check tho so that this doesn't happen again.
@aaronpk a note on using the ownyourowngram website from the phone - the mobile nav doesn’t seem to trigger from safari on iOS for me.
@eli huh thanks. It's using a reaaaaly old version of bootstrap so I should probably update it
@aaronpk I’ve also noticed that there is sometimes no way to hit the confirmation button on Quill in the photo upload modal when the photo forces the modal to overflow the viewport...but I can file an issue on Github for that one 😬
@aaronpk Thanks Aaron, I'm glad it works. I understand the tiers of checking, but I've posted quite a few photos the last couple of days. That's why I was surprised to see how long it takes. Would it be a big hurdle to take your code and install it for myself so I can make it more realtime for my own needs?
It's not too hard to set up if you're familiar with deploying PHP apps already. You'll need to set up the cron jobs described in the readme. I also just updated it so new users will start out at the top tier (every 15 minutes)
