@Denny Yes. I think thereās a difference between micro.blogās design choices that foster ācalmerā discourse ā no retweets, follower counts or likes ā and the community that has sprung up around it. Or rather, the one shouldnāt necessarily lead to the other.
It should be possible to discuss āthe full range of human affairsā reasonably, and the absence of likes, retweets etc. would presumably encourage this. But youāre right, thatās often discouraged. I see the argument that Thereās politics on plenty of other places on the internet, I donāt want it here pretty often. It just creates a small ācā conservative network.
Itās a shame, but at the end of the day, if thatās what the micro.blog curators/community wants, then thatās their right š¤·āāļø
