I have to admit, the global timeline on Twitter has its advantages, and maybe that’s a chance for Micro.blog to improve. Yes, there’s terrible and stupid things on Twitter, but it also gives you the chance to find good news, interesting posts, links to random stuff you didn’t know about... hutaffe.blog

@hutaffe Long term, I think we will want a News section to dip our toes into following important world events. But curated by journalists, not algorithic trends. Don't have the resources for that yet.

@hutaffe This has been discussed before. I think @jean mentioned that there's plenty of spam in an unfiltered global timeline that would degrade our experience.

@pratik yeah, that’s what I figured. Maybe some manually added filters could help? But that’s why I’m glad it’s not me that has to solve this 😉 @manton

@pratik To my eyes, they actually increased the algorithmic trends in Mastodon 4.0. The influx of Twitter users is going to push them to make it more Twitter-like.
