@mattgemmell so great so see you here! Love your work ππ»
@jean Excellent. Do you happen to have examples anywhere of RSS feeds for short and long posts respectively? I'd like to check mine against them.
@mattgemmell it works. You have an advantage to many other novelists by being a techie, too ;)
@mattgemmell Welcome. I used to follow your blog back in the day from before you made the switch to a full-time novelist.
@mattgemmell ah lovely to see you here! What do you use to post to /microblog/ on your site & how did you set this up? I'd love to do the same.
@alpower Hi again, thank you, and likewise I'm sure!
My site is a statically-generated Jekyll site. I just set up a Jekyll "collection" for microblog posts β I also have collections for regular posts, my weekly mini-stories, and my books β and created an RSS feed just for that collection. That was it, notwithstanding making a basic template for my microblog index and individual post pages.
The micro.blog account page lets you add external RSS or JSON feeds as sources for posts, which I did. It also lets you configure crossposting to Mastodon etc. I do my replying and following on the micro.blog site itself; my own site is just a place to publish (and syndicate, via the RSS feed) my microblog posts.
@mattgemmell perfect - I thought it might be something like that. I use Eleventy (similar) so might well set something like this up. Thanks for the info!
