In case you missed it, we’ve started to consider ALT descriptions when choosing posts to add the the Micro.blog Discover timeline. (I’ve noticed an uptick in accessibility already. 🌟)
@jean I would like to suggest a possible improvement to the web user interface. I find it challenging to add ALT information for images when uploading, mainly since I primarily use the web interface rather than the iOS app. As someone in their 56s, the small print on the IOS app becomes difficult to read when I'm on the go. Therefore, I manually add ALT information after copying and pasting from the uploads area in the web UI, which can be tedious. Is it possible to enhance the web UI to allow for the addition of ALT information during the upload process?
@khurtwilliams Thanks for this feedback. We want to encourage use of ALT descriptions, and I know you are not the only one with eyesight that is challenged. 🙋♀️ I’m tagging @manton, who would know what’s possible.
@jean @khurtwilliams Yes, I would love some improved editing. I already edit the raw html in the web browser to add a link to the full image, and a title tag to get a hover message. By the time I'm done with that, I'm ready to move on. I've already captioned the image in the blog, so I'd often have nothing to add in the alt text, but it would be nice to clone it there. I'd be happy to spec this out and provide a sample editor for what I would like to see, if that would help.
@khurtwilliams You should be able to add alt text by tapping on the photo attached before posting. However, just realized that it’s broken for some types of photos. Sorry! Will fix today or tomorrow.
@jean @manton @khurtwilliams maybe useful you can bump the font size in iOS MB app with the dynamic text size (mine is on max) and also on macOS this terminal command is fantastic. Quit macOS app first.

I have also requested a toggle for prompting alt text could be same for web as well as apps I would expect. I am terrible at remembering to do alt text and the force would well make me 🤣
Hi @manton, is it possible to enhance the web UI to allow for the addition of ALT information upon upload? Take a look at how Instagram does it.
@manton Since you’re looking at this stuff, using 3.0.2 from TestFlight. You don’t seem to be able to add descriptions if you use the share sheet to post a photo.
