@Manton @macgenie so now 10 sign in emails arrive about 15 minutes after trying to sign in .... please give us proper sign as this is too frustrating and happens regularly

@Scotty Ugh, I’m really sorry to hear about that. I was initially skeptical about the sign-in process, but it has not been a problem for me. I switch back and forth between 5 different microblogs pretty regularly, and the emails come in instantly, regardless of the address. If it happens again, can you forward the email to help@micro.blog so we can try to troubleshoot? Or @manton may have other suggestions.

@trevorstinson Thanks for letting us know what you think. We are continually evaluating suggestions for changes. There are benefits to a login, for sure.

@trevorstinson @Scotty @macgenie I'll look into the email delays. There are other things we could do in addition to email (like push notifications) to improve the experience. Also, if there's a reason you are signing in often, maybe that's the root issue that we should address.

@manton I'm a big fan of push notifications for login! I have that set up on my own website right now! https://aaronparecki.com/2017/10/04/23/passwordless-logins #passwordless

@manton That last part was my thought too. I've had a hosted account here since the Kickstarter. I've signed in with the email one time for sure, maybe twice, three times at the very most.

@trevorstinson Thanks for the feedback. Email certainly isn't perfect, but I think the trade-off is worth it to avoid problems with passwords.

@manton I disagree on the trade off. I would much rather have password (and potential 2fa token). I receive the emails, but can’t click because email arrives on a different device than I want m.b on. Re-typing those links or copying them over ssh is way more cumbersome than password.

@oyam Most people can check email on the same device they are using. If you can't, that's definitely really annoying, but I think we can make this simpler in the future without requiring passwords.
