Question about Tapestry @manton -

I can get posts from Mastodon opening in Ivory and posts from Bluesky opening in the Bluesky app. Is there a way to get my Micro.blog timeline posts to open in the Micro.blog app or does that require work from @iconfactory?

@thedimpause Set Mastodon to open in app of your choice by editing the feed. Bluesky only has one app so it should open by default. Microblog doesn’t support the URL schemes needed for Tapestry (yet) iconfactory.happyfox.com/kb/articl…

@iconfactory Yes, I’ve got the Mastodon and Bluesky items sorted 👍 Was just wondering if there was some customised setting I could use to get the Micro.blog app connection sorted - I’d tried a couple of url scheme possibilities but didn’t find anything that worked.

@iconfactory so even tho micro.blog is listed it doesn’t work at the moment? It won’t even send me a verify code.

@JohnPhilpin Adding your microblog account to Tapestry should work okay. I just tested it and it worked here for me. Open the FeedFinder and enter your microblog account and follow the prompts to add them.

@thedimpause @iconfactory I think maybe the Micro.blog iOS app would have to register to open any micro.blog URL for that to work, which isn’t something we currently do.

@JohnPhilpin Browsing my Micro.blog timeline in Tapestry works really well for me, it’s just that following the link to open the original post uses the browser rather than the Micro.blog app. I’d prefer the app, which is the behaviour with Mastodon and Bluesky posts.

@manton Would it be possible to implement that in the future? Or a reason why that behaviour is undesirable?

@iconfactory it is definitely not working for me as i would expect … @manton - we never worked out what was going on with my account - couldn’t signin with apple etc - and verify links getting lost. Eventually I moved on … but this might be related? will dig out the correspondence and resend …

I did manage to follow my json feed of my own account - but i don’t see a use case for that?

@iconfactory I did also just manage to add the feeds timeline - and from there I can drill through to reply from micro blog

@thedimpause It is definitely possible. To be honest, as a user I often find it annoying when an app opens instead of the website. With Micro.blog in particular, not every feature is available in the app compared to the web version. I haven’t looked at this recently, I’ll reevaluate it.

@manton Yes, generally I’d agree with you - I’d prefer a website to an app - BUT with ‘social media’ type links where I want to reply or comment I do usually want the app. The good thing about Tapestry is that there’s a setting which lets you choose your preference for opening the link 🙂

@thedimpause @manton @Iconfactory

I don‘t understand this thread because I can open a
posting in the Micro.blog app from within the Reeder app.

I selected the app within Reeder for opening Micro.blog posting.

It works in most cases, sometime I have to try a second time.

Where is the problem to implement it?

@thosch Yes, this works in Reeder for me too - but this is opening via Apple’s Share Sheet rather than a direct link. Is that the difference? And is it a method @iconfactory can/want to utilise?

@thedimpause I have assigned the Open function to Swipe Left and then use the swipe. Does this use the Share Sheet behind the scenes?

@thosch I’m not sure but I guess it’s that or something similar as Manton has said that the Micro.blog iOS app is not registered to open any micro.blog URL directly.

It definitely works though - the swipe is a great idea and very convenient!
