Indieweb co founders interview (transcript): discursive.adamprocter.co.uk
@adamprocter I’m glad you posted about that; the same section of the interview/transcript stood out for me.
I do think that offering domain names (and thereby being able to hook them up to your hosted blog automatically) is a logical next step for @manton to take with Micro.blog, particularly given the stance that owning one’s content means owning the URLs and thus the domain—although there are certainly thorny issues there yet: cost, interaction with the free trial, overhead/infrastructure (aka one more thing for Manton to manage).
In the interim, I wonder if it wouldn’t be a good idea to “partner” with a preferred provider that has a dead-simple configuration experience (e.g., I think Hover is supposed to have a one-click thing that does all the DNS for you for your Micro.blog-hosted blog?) and link to that partner at whatever point in the sign-up/setup process makes sense for “you should have a domain name; it’s your identity card on the web”….
@smokey 99.9% of my domains are with Hover (tucows) so could indeed be a good partner ...
