Hung out with a bunch of people yesterday who I mostly hadnāt met in person before, so now Iām replaying every conversation in my head to remember what idiotic things I probably said.

@manton š me remembering other times āIt is nice to meet meāyou!, you are niceā¦meetingā¦uhā¦ā
@manton I donāt have to do this because my memory for stupid things Iāve said is infallible.
@manton oh, try to find comfort in the fact that other people donāt really notice things we anxious overthinkers think are embarrassing
@manton Sounds like every social encounter Iāve ever had. I think thoughtful people do this more often than they admit? Thanks for sharing. Makes me feel less weird.
@manton Yep. Been there, done that. Now you have made me relive some of my most cringe-worthy moments. š
@manton I was once speaking to a neighbour who was new to the area and I said to her āYeah then thereās also X PERSON who is super nice.ā ⦠she was in fact X PERSON and I immediately realised what I had done in my confusion.
⦠we donāt live there anymore.
@manton Iāve spent years of my life doing that. Finally, maybe last year, I said to myself āThatās enough! You canāt change the past.ā Now I get really firm (usually) with my brain and just donāt let the thoughts hang around. Thatās made life more enjoyable.
@manton Itās of precisely no use to you, but itās ultra comforting to me to know that Iām not the only one! Bonus points if you start pondering peopleās internal reaction to each statement, too.
