Hung out with a bunch of people yesterday who I mostly hadnโ€™t met in person before, so now Iโ€™m replaying every conversation in my head to remember what idiotic things I probably said.

@manton oh, try to find comfort in the fact that other people don't really notice things we anxious overthinkers think are embarrassing

@manton Sounds like every social encounter Iโ€™ve ever had. I think thoughtful people do this more often than they admit? Thanks for sharing. Makes me feel less weird.

@manton I was once speaking to a neighbour who was new to the area and I said to her "Yeah then there's also X PERSON who is super nice." ... she was in fact X PERSON and I immediately realised what I had done in my confusion.

... we don't live there anymore.

@manton I've spent years of my life doing that. Finally, maybe last year, I said to myself "That's enough! You can't change the past." Now I get really firm (usually) with my brain and just don't let the thoughts hang around. That's made life more enjoyable.

@manton It's of precisely no use to you, but it's ultra comforting to me to know that I'm not the only one! Bonus points if you start pondering people's internal reaction to each statement, too.
