I follow news of the App Store guidelines pretty closely, but I can’t even keep the rules straight anymore now that they are fragmented across countries or held up in court appeals. I can’t believe all of this confusion is worth it to Apple. So much wasted time.

@manton Looks like Apple is just overwhelmed (via @gruber)

@jp.flintoff.org Yeah, I’m sure Apple is dealing with more app submissions. But I think what is tripping me up is unrelated… They are being very strict and probably spending way too much time reviewing my app.

@manton “thanks to” vibe coding, this will become even worse. Often app reviews are done by automated systems both at Apple and (especially) at Google and in specific cases humans intervene. I’ve myself published several apps before and it’s a very frustrating process especially when the reviews are delayed.

@pragmatist The problem is the review process is so opaque I can’t even tell if it’s a human. But I think in my case it is.

@manton yes it’s totally opaque with cryptic responses and references to the terms. Generally, when it drags in time you can be sure their human staff is reviewing it. Those submissions that get aways with software/automatic reviews happen really quickly (in a couple hours).
