Voting desert. 🇺🇸
@manton Wait! You get ICE CREAM when you vote in Texas? Is this just some hippie Austin thing or state wide!
I might understand the gerrymandering if free ice cream were involved.
;-)
@patrickrhone Unfortunately I had to pay for my ice cream down the street! But I think we’ve now identified a great way for an ice cream company to swing an election. 🙂
@patrickrhone @manton Looks like an opportunity for a US variant of the democracy sausage: democracy ice-cream. 😀
@lmika @manton @patrickrhone George Washington began his political career in my (current) hometown, in the 1750s. He lost his first campaign to be elected to the House of Burgesses . For his second campaign , his campaign manager advised him to buy a lot of liquor for the voters. Then he won.
@annahavron This lines up with a fundraising gala axiom that I’ve always loved:
“An open bar opens wallets”
@patrickrhone I’m not a fan of fundraising galas, but I went to one Saturday. Two chits for free drinks included. Successful gala.
@ReaderJohn Exactly. I go to them frequently this time of year. I even help organize one or two here and there.
If there’s an auction or fund-a-need involved, an open bar or drink tickets increase giving.
No drinks or overpriced cash bar equals lower giving.
It’s as sure as the sunrise.
