Pigeon Forge, Tennessee is extremely strange. Should’ve done more research before stopping here. Feels like Vegas but more spread out and no gambling, I guess? Also the Great Smoky Mountains are nearby.

@manton I was born in Pasadena, CA., but my family roots are in Knoxville and I spent many years living there. And yes, Pigeon Forge is weird :) Gatlinburg, however, is spectacular and I’ll forever miss the Smokey’s. At least this time of year the weather should be nice!
@tylerknowsnothing The weather is nice! The views are great around here too, even just driving through.
@manton It’s been close to ~20 years, but my memory is it’s like the Strip, but mini-golf, Go-Karts, arcades, and themed dinner shows. Is it still like that?
@zachtarvin.com Yep, still like that! It’s pretty wild, I expect it has grown in the last 20 years quite a bit too.
@manton Wait’ll you hit Branson. I spent 9 months there working a show in 2009.

@manton I call it (and Gatlinburg) the Wisconsin Dells of The South.
The worst part of driving the Smokey Mountain scenic route from Ashville, NC (Which is fantastic by the way) is that it dumps you out there on the other end.
@manton I was there last week! The salt & pepper shaker museum in Gatlinburg is surprisingly worthwhile… and $3.70 to get in!
@manton Very unusual place, but national park nearby made it a mandatory stop for us. And don’t forget Dollywood which we didn’t see 🙂
@manton Dollywood if she could!
Dollywood is where I heard “Jolene” for the 1st time which prompted me to explore her back catalog & realize how incredible she is.
Also Pigeon Forge is where I had my first hot Krispy Kreme doughnut :)
Gatlinburg is one of my very favorite places, even though it’s in Tennessee.
@frankm Yeah, you’re right. Oh well…
@frankm @patrickrhone If I ever find out what Wisconsin Dells is, I imagine I’ll probably call it the Pigeon Forge of the North.
