My attention span is getting shorter and shorter. What to do? š¤¤
@toddgrotenhuis Yes, I have started on several, but then my thoughts begins to wander, and my anxiety is playing tricks on me. Micro.Blog is a bite-sized thing I can handle. Maybe I ought to turn off my phone and try harder to read longerā¦
@rcrackley I will make a wholeheartedly attempt to read for longer, and resist the temptation of checking my phone and my feelings too frequently.
@rcrackley @odd this sounds good to me. I like the writing challenges I've seen people do (on Twitter, et al.) and wonder if we could have that but for reading. So, for example:
Somebody: "Time for today's reading challenge. Ready? Go!"
Same person +1 hour later: "Ok, challenge is done. I read 'X'. How did you do?"
@Archimage I suspect that defeats the purpose of checking my phone too often. Well, it might not, but you know how it isā¦
@odd you can log your reading afrerwards. It also lets you keep a journal of what you read and set goals.
@SimonWoods Wouldnāt that be hard for people with completely different time zones? How about writing a message to another person about your progress for the day, and they do the same? @rcrackley
@KimberlyHirsh I think my zulu-time schedule isnāt the best fit for this, but a person to person accountability note I can do.
@rcrackley I like it! You round off the reading time to the nearest 30m? Simple logging like this could maybe be a future feature of Bookshelves? @manton
@rcrackley Itās half past 9pm here now, and I donāt think Iāll read much tonight, but Iām going to really try tomorrow, borrowing your graph, and notifying you afterwards. Our weeks start on Mondays too, so that will be a difference in mine. What are you most excited to continue reading, or to start on?
@rcrackley Iāll have a look at those tomorrow. Yeah, Iāve had some under āReadingā for over a year now! Have a good evening, and night when it comes! š
