I’m planning to create an app, for Micro.blog, that only shows you your mentions. No timeline. No discover. Just mentions. Anyone would like that?

@vincent Could be fun to name that app. 🙂 That is basically how I use Twitter. I don't follow anyone and don't read the timeline. Just check mentions sometimes.

@vincent 👋 How about adding preferences (even command line ones) to the Mac app to turn off Timeline, Bookmarks, and Discover? Call it Focus Mode.

@manton I’ve been trying to think of a name for weeks 😂 Suggestions are welcome. Maybe I could add different services down the line… not keen to start a Twitter account.

@cdevroe thanks Colin. I think that would be a nice option to have in the Gluon app down the line. I want to explore a barebones app, so I can learn a few things on the way. Actually, whilst I had this idea for some time, I was just reading your blog post, which prompted me to get it out there. See if there is interest. Kinda niche.

@vincent I’m interested in the opposite. Timeline sans the mentions. And (optional) an indication if a post has mentions. Then swipe/tap to reveal the mentions.

@vincent What about the IKEA sounding Snabel-a? That's the Swedish name for @ (at sign) translating to trunk-a or a with an elephant trunk. 🐘

Another suggestion is Krøllalfa, which would probably make @odd happy. 😊

@sod @odd @jemostrom oooo! Now I'm listening. I do like the sound of "kanelbulle"... reminds me of the word "małpa" in Polish, which is "monkey"... which is a way of saying "@". Or so I am told... Would be funny to hear everyone trying to pronounce the app name.

@JohnPhilpin that's fine. What the other apps have is potential distractions... that's why I thought one app, for one purpose, would be cool to do. Not saying I will do it anyway. Just an idea. Sometimes it's good to have an app with just one purpose.

I definitely fall into the camp of minimizing distraction - but my use case is microblog or no microblog.
