Anyone using a VPN client when they travel abroad? Why? Which one? I considering using this when I’ll be in Croatia and it must be compatible with iOS and iPadOS. Thanks.

@numericcitizen I get Guardian VPN "free" with my Eero subscription and it seems to work well enough on IOS/iPadOS. If I were to look more broadly, I'd probably start with Proton VPN.
@numericcitizen Mullvad whenever I travel, I pay for a month and just leave it connected 100% of the time.
@numericcitizen mostly because I don’t like connecting on public WiFi’s (any WiFi that is not mine, is public to me). And on travel, I end up using a vpn to not blow all my data plan quickly.
@numericcitizen I use ProtonVPN. Mainly because it's part of the whole Proton suite (Mail, Drive, Pass) and it's made by a privacy focussed foundation based in Switzerland.
@kleinheld I downloaded NordVPN and opened the app and sure enough, the first screen you get is for a subscription offer… 🤨🙄
@AngeloStavrow and may I ask why you use a VPN?
@numericcitizen sure! Sometimes I have to connect to WiFi at a café or a coworking space. I prefer to route things through the VPN in that case.
(Though I’ll be honest, I usually just tether to my phone’s hotspot for shorter sessions.)
