No matter what happens, can we give Eric Trump some credit for actually being there for his dad? Eric gets made fun of so often, but there he is.

@manton You mean supporting somebody with that record? No, Eric Trump gets no credit from me.

I have to admit I am confused by this post. Accrediting awful people is a weird take.

@SimonWoods It is weird, just a thought I had that Trump’s own family was barely there for him except Eric. Trump has done so much damage, and in the end he will be mostly alone.

@manton Yeah, I will give him that. I'm no fan of DT or the extended family. But they choose to hide instead of standing with dad.

@SimonWoods If even the awful can be a little less awful, that’s a tiny step in the right direction. Or, at least, not the worst possible direction.

@dgreene196 That doesn't mean we should go out of our way to give credit for such a thing. Since we all have limited energy, and therefore limited credit to give — assuming we're talking about actual credit worth speaking of — it is most wise to give first to the people who are actively attempting to do good things.

@lukemperez Right. I guess every family has its unusual dynamics, but maybe that family more than most.

@manton I can appreciate that, and I'm with you generally regarding the need to maintain a realistic grasp of events — not turning people into cartoonish villains and so on — however I don't find any value in proactively highlighting the worst people. More than anything, it seems to me that the people who are just trying to do good are already getting barely any attention as is.

@manton hmmm, with the Trump family, you always have to think, what was his calculation? I’ve begun to think Niki Haley might have been playing a brokered convention angle when she said she would vote for 45 if he was the nominee…

@mbkriegh Hmm, very interesting. Haley will have some number of delegates, even if it’s not many.

@manton All of his family have always supported him in a big way as far as I see. His son also just turned 18 and seems to be quite a good kid.
