I don’t like Micro.blog’s app on iPad. The sidebar need not be sticky. It sticks out ever so more in the portrait mode. @manton.
@amit I'm going to tweak this in the next version so that the sidebar is narrower in portrait.
@manton any specific reason why you feel the sidebar should always be visible? Especially in portrait mode? Can it not be hidden or replaced, say, with just icons?
@amit I like Gluon. It uses a 'bottom bar'.
@amit It just hasn't been a priority because it's a significant change, and I think most people use their iPads in landscape. Ideally it would be resizable like the Mac version.
@manton @amit Good news. I mainly use the iPad app in portrait mode. It’s perfectly usable but the sidebar does look a bit wider than necessary. Thanks, Manton (and Amit for bringing it up).
@ronguest yeah, maybe I will give Gluon a try.
@manton Sure. I understand the features would be the priority. I guess I am in a minority to use the iPad many a time in portrait mode - mainly while reading, lying down.
@artkavanagh Good to know am not alone who uses iPad in portrait mode 👍🏼
@manton I use Micro.blog on my iPad Mini in portrait mode so I would love flexibility for the sidebar too (not visible in portrait mode but visible in landscape mode) @amit
@manton Portrait mode for text consumption and landscape mode for writing and video consumption.
@jeroensangers That’s an interesting way to look at it. Makes sense.
@manton when in production mode my iPad is often in landscape. But in consumption mode, like when reading micro.blog, my iPad is almost always in portrait orientation.
Like right now! (Cc @amit)
@amit @manton I just downloaded the update — big improvement. Thanks, Manton.
@artkavanagh @amit 👍
@manton Yeah, the smaller sidebar improves the experience a lot. Thank you! 👍
