New Bear license: manton.org
@manton i’ve been thinking that advent of ai coding will kill open source – the rampant plagiarism embedded in it means it will undermine not just creativity it peoples livelihoods
@manton why not choose the GNU Affero General Public License (GNU AGPL) ? This is what all my software is licensed as and I think is the best copy left one. Being free (libre) software? Why wouldn’t you use this for micro.blog over MIT. Just curious if you have a reason.
@adamprocter I like the simplicity of MIT. Also, I’m fine if someone wants to take portions of my code and use it even in a closed source app, if it’s helpful.
@manton cool cool yeah makes sense - I’m not into anyone using my stuff or for generally making closed source stuff
@jonah It’s hard to predict. I can’t see open source going away, but lots of things will change.
@ZeroOne It is! Here’s the GitHub repository. It’s written in React Native with shared code on Android and iOS.
@manton I was sooo confused because I had no idea that bear.app was open source… until I realized it’s a completely different unrelated Bear 🧐
