Added a new reading goals bar to the top of Bookshelves in the Mac app. Love the way it turned out, with little progress indicators for the goal progress. Here’s a video:

@manton Feature request: One thing I struggle with using Bookshelves more is there’s no “started on / finished on” metadata that I can see. I’d love to have that data surfaced somehow in Epilogue or shelves somehow?
@manton maybe I should start using the book feature on micro.blog. I’ve never seriously considered it since it is so specialized. Hmm…
@iChris Good point, I think we can add that in more places. Right now the finished date is only visible on the web when you click on a book in the Finished shelf, then click the Edit button.
@apollon Doesn’t look like there is! There are a couple ways to show the books you have finished or want to read. One way is to click on the “i” button next to a bookshelf and set the “Include books on page” option. That’s how I do this reading page. But we should make a plug-in that shows the goals info too.
@jthingelstad It is kind of a niche feature but I really like it. Better to ingrate with my own blog than track something on Goodreads or wherever.
@manton Nice…. and getting some Mac envy.. Any hope for those of us stubbornly holding out against the Apple ecosystem?:)
@therustgeek For non-Apple platforms, our focus will be making the web version and Android version better. Even though I love the Mac, I still consider the web the default Micro.blog experience with the most features. Need to keep making the UI better.
@manton One feature I would dearly welcome is an “edit” button whenever I look over one of my posts. I catch mistakes, but the process of going back into the web version takes a few steps. An “edit” button similar to what Wordpress offers is very convenient. I’m sure this is challenging.
@apoorplayer Thanks, it is a little tricky with how we separate blogs (you aren’t signed into your blog like you are on WordPress) but it might be possible.
@iChris If you go to your “Finished reading” shelf and click on any Edit button, the finish date is listed. But would be nice if it were more visible.
@jthingelstad One of my favourite features, but have found it only comes into its own when you are privy to North American style libraries
@apollon I just added an experiment to the “Book reading goals” plug-in (separate from that one) that can insert “5 of 10” for the current year by using {{< bookgoals progress >}}.
@apollon Oops, good catch. I can fix that to avoid the space, I’ll update the plug-in.
