I’m rooting for The Browser Company folks, because it’s good to have competition in browsers, but their messaging has been all out of order. They could’ve quietly maintained Arc without making a big deal about it. Also, wait until Dia is available so people focus on the new stuff. (Posted with Arc.)
@manton I’m really disappointed. Arc has been my main browser for the past year or two and I’m not looking forward to trying to reconfigure Safari to do the things I’ve been doing in Arc. Not much interest in an AI-forward browser though I’ll try to keep an open mind.
@eurobubba For now I’m planning to just keep using Arc because it works perfectly for me. It’s too bad they sort of alienated their fans with this change, before we’ve even had a chance to try Dia.
@manton I saw the writing on the wall a few months ago with Arc and decided to migrate away from it. I’m currently splitting my browsing between Orion (by Kagi) and Safari. I really like Orion’s approach to vertical tabs, extensions, and ad-blocking.
@eurobubba @Manton I switched to Vivaldi almost a year ago. I try other browsers, but come back to Vivaldi. It suits me.
@manton It kind of sounds to me, a user of neither Arc nor Dia, that they’re in danger of Osborning themselves. I can’t see myself trying Arc now, and if Dia is not out, then 🤷.
@lmika I think that’s right. Some people stopped using Arc when they heard it was abandoned, and there’s no other app to go to yet.
@manton I was just starting to switch to Arc as my default browser and now I’m trying others instead.
I can’t figure out the reason for this order of operations.
@curiouskyle i had switched to arc about a year ago - because of a positive @manton post - and I am currently really just settling back in to safari. #shame
