💡 Underrated Pika feature: a few minutes delay after you post, before your feed is updated. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone back and edited, knowing EchoFeed wasn’t getting my feed just yet. Priceless.

In the old days, I was running around deleting stuff everywhere. Not anymore.

@maique I always find a spelling error after I post, and this is a great feature!

@jarrod cc: @manton with so many feeds building off the one in Mb, this would be appreciated.

@jarrod That’s interesting. But then people would wonder why the timeline didn’t update right away when they posted. 🙂 I wish more APIs allowed editing, then edits could be propagated everywhere else too.

@manton That’s a fair point. I guess I was thinking that maybe the M.b timeline gets the fast treatment, but anything external (that may not pick up on edits) gets a few minutes of delay. But if they’re all based on the one feed then that wouldn’t work so well.

@jarrod I could add a delay to cross-posting if people want it too, as a preference. So the feed gets updated right away, but no action is taking to send the post elsewhere.

@manton That would be a good feature to have. I know I'd find that useful.

@manton I think that processing the post locally so it shows up in near real-time and then take the time to cross-post would be a really nice mod. I think that would dramatically improve the Mb speed of engagement in conversations, which I would appreciate. So, it gets my vote :)

@manton I see a couple people saying that it's a good feature. I'm going to say that it isn't a good feature. 🤪

@manton i can definitely see the point made by @mandaris - IF you decide to do it - could it be a user setting .. Instant/Delay?

From my POV - it’s a yes if it gives me that extra bit of time to fix the errors that ONLY appear after 'submit'. do it all the time - so the syndications are alwayss out of whack.

@jarrod It’s awesome! You can go back to Mastodon, and edit. But Bluesky doesn’t allow editing, and that means deleting, and do again.

@manton sounds like a nice feature I have many typos on Bluesky and mastodon that I may have caught - to be fair a few times I hoped I had been quick enough before the cross post happened 🤣

@mandaris Thanks. If I’ve learned nothing else over the years it’s that not everyone wants things to work the same way. 🙂 Which is fine! Always have to find the right balance that doesn’t involve a thousand settings.

@JohnPhilpin I don't think I would use it because I've run into issues where I post it and panic because micro.blog sent it to my test site instead.
