When I was first working on the Micro.blog prototype, I was so worried that someone would launch a similar service before me or soon after. 5 years later, turns out no… There are a lot of interesting platforms but really nothing close to the breadth of what we’re trying to do.

@manton Micro.blog is so awesome. You’ve done a wonderful job. I truly hope it is financially profitable for you, because I would hate for it to ever go away.

@amoroso That's true. Startups now only want to build "social media platforms", most doomed to fail.

@manton Nothing comes close to what you’ve built 🙂

@manton Just you wait, I have been cooking MACRO.BLOG !!!! 🤣😂 Seriously though, I am so glad you have built this playground for us. It is my favorite corner of the internet for sure and I hope and will do my part (usually monetarily, via subscribing 😅), so that it doesn't go away

@Gaby Thanks! One of these days I should probably register macro.blog, even just as a joke to redirect. Unfortunately these .blog domains are pricey. 💰

@manton thank you for creating a fantastic service! I really enjoy it here, and after trying so many other services, none really come close. Plus the community here is quite amazing.

@manton You have hit the right mix of features -- something that's easy to replicate isn't attractive and what's attractive isn't easy to copy. And everything is engaging to the users like me 👍🏽

@manton I want to thank you for making it, and it has given me great joy, in joyous times, and harder times as well. You and @jean have really pulled this off, with some help from a few dedicated people. 👊😃👍

@manton what you need to create now is a version of Micro.blog as a Headless CMS for developers like me that want full control.

Basically, Micro.blog but API only. No static site generator or hosting.

@manton Different incentives. When you chose to make something and build it for life instead of trying to "sell out" and be a VC, that made the difference.

@lukebouch That's an interesting idea. Eventually I want to be able to split out parts of the backend as open source so they can be forked for other projects, but it might be a while still.

@manton I was building SublimeBlogs.com to be basically that. It’s been a hobby for the past few months. I never got the time to implement of all the IndieWeb standards and MicroPub but I do use it every day.

@manton I'm so grateful to have come across Micro.blog when I did. It has changed my blogging habits, for the better, and of course there is the wonderful community. Thank you Manton for what you have created here.
