@manton This looks great. Import from Good Reads would save me an awful lot of time. But I'd be glad to leave that app behind.
@cdevroe Thanks! There's a Goodreads import on the web (Bookshelves → Import)... I'd like to build it into the app so it's more convenient.
@manton nice! Requested my data from Goodreads "We will provide your information to you as soon as we can. Usually, this should take no more than a month."
Well, then.
@manton Awesome! I would have preferred with the MB app but this works too. Glad to now have a mobile option for the bookshelves which was one reason I used to forget to update it.
@manton downloaded and looking forward to trying it. I’m not getting the sign in email though…
@uncertainquark The web version (under Bookshelves → Book Search) currently uses the Internet Archive's Open Library. If this experiment with Epilogue goes well, I'll update Micro.blog on the web to use Google Books too so that everything matches.
@manton Excited to give this a try, especially as I've been considering stepping out of Goodreads and keeping track of my reading and reviewing elsewhere! Though I'll probably use it very minimally for the next two weeks, until I get a deadline behind me!
@manton this looks cool. I’m tired of the Goodreads interface. Just started trying bookwyrm and am not super happy with the performance.
@manton Any concern of moving away from an open archive source to putting your eggs in the google basket?
@ohBananaJoe It's a good question, which basically comes down to making it easier to blog about books. I don't think those other services do that. But we shouldn't try to compete directly with all the other things Literal, etc. are trying to do.
@manton Looks like it's off to a good start! A couple immediate thoughts/suggestions/feature ideas:
Looking forward to seeing where this goes!
@manton My first try with Epilogue went OK. I really liked how easy it was to get the link to my book, but books are one area where I expect to be less "micro" than usual, so I hope support for titled posts is in an upcoming release
@verumsolum Thanks! I think after this first version is done, it makes sense to add full-length posts and attaching photos too.
@manton One more future feature request: Support for those of us who use WordPress. :) It's obvious after the fact (since there weren't options to put in WordPress credentials), but my first posting attempt just got me App token was not valid
and now all I can do is sign out.
