@Andricheli Thanks for sharing this. You've invested a lot of time in Micro.blog. I have both iA Writer and Ulysses. I really like iA Writer but haven't found way a to paste from rich text to Markdown. Ulysses does that easily so prefer Ulysses.
@Andricheli I have tried Obsidian but found it complicated to learn. Maybe I will try again. So many people love it.
@Andricheli I am also curious about why you settled on Micro.blog among all the available options.
@abc Regarding Obsidian, I started and stopped using the app for probably 6 months. It has a learning curve but once I learned how to use it, I found it absolutely amazing. Mostly, I love that I truly OWN my files.
@Andricheli I have use Micro.blog in the past but honestly I am just starting to understand it. For me a blog meant posts with titles and two columns with categories and tags and a search box. Posts without titles just didn't make sense. Now I get it.
@abc It has all the features I want, good price, easy to use on Mobile, and integrates with mastodon. I've tried a few ways to blog, including Obsidian Publish, and Micro.blog is my favorite. It's "light" blogging, which I like, but I have the option of going deeper. Also the social aspect of it is really nice.
@abc Well, I tend to agree because most of my posts do contain titles. I'm using Micro.Blog definitely more as a traditional blog site, but I really like the light weight nature of it. It has just the right amount of features for my needs, although I'd love to see some more plugins for it.
@Andricheli I like that sites here are fast and I like the community. I’ve used WordPress a fair amount but I just don’t like it. And getting a WordPress site to be fast is beyond my technical ability.
@abc that was my experience with wordpress as well. It was also very clunky to set up and not particularly mobile friendly. Micro.Blog is just flexible enough for my needs while still feeling very lightweight and having a good set of options.
@Andricheli Ulysses is the winner for me for long form. For short stuff, I just use the micro.blog first party app (currently the new beta one).
@Mtt ah I didn’t realize there was a TestFlight beta. Found the link and checking that out now. Thanks!
@Andricheli No prob. It’s slow and a little buggy right now, but seems to be heading in a better direction. Still not great for long form though.
@Andricheli thanks for sharing your workflow! I had a similar thought process after creating my micro.blog, opting for Ulysses because of its ease and lovely layout. Seeing what other options are out there via your post helps a lot.
@Andricheli something wrong with your micro blog account? Can’t open it.. Safari says invalid URL.
@Andricheli I'm a sucker for a workflow post! While it's macOS only, I recommend you try MarsEdit. A new version 5 is being released tomorrow. I find it the best interface for anything remotely complicated.
@canion thanks! I will look into that. It’s fun just to try things out and see what sticks and works best.
@Andricheli Saved for later in the day 🙂 Thank you for sharing.
