Big debate in the family over when/how to wet your toothbrush. Liam and I are wet / paste / a little more wet. The others are shocked by the second wetting.

@lex Yes! You need to wet the brush slightly after applying toothpaste, so that it spreads more easily in your mouth.

@lex @martinfeld This never occurred to me. I’ll give it a shot. (Almost can’t wait for bedtime.)

@artkavanagh @lex @martinfeld And here I am not wetting my brush at all, like some sort of caveman.

@pimoore Hey, if that method works for you, then great! I’d be curious to know what you think of post-toothpaste-application-wetting if you try it, though! 😂

@martinfeld I’m going to try that tonight and will report back. 👍🏻

@lex Who would put dry toothpaste against their teeth and gums? Cringing at the thought.

@jean Well, it's gooey not wet. In my more anti-commercial moods I've brushed with baking soda. Then you have to wet the brush to keep it from falling off.

@lex I'm reminded of Archie Bunker and Meathead arguing about "sock, sock, shoe, shoe' versus 'sock, shoe, sock, shoe.'

You be you.

@martinfeld @lex @pimoore 👍It’s all true! It does make the toothpaste spread more smoothly. Thanks for this tip.

@artkavanagh @martinfeld @lex Confirmed, I’m actually surprised the difference it makes! Tried it lastnight, and even with my electric brush it seemed easier to manage.

Sold!

@martinfeld @pimoore Super late to this one (I was brushing my teeth!), but just wanted to add this family’s take. Paste on brush, no water before, just after paste has been applied. It’s one of those things I kinda assumed was the same for everyone. Of course it’s not 🙂

@ReaderJohn Now just a minute. I can't even imagine doing "sock, shoe, sock, shoe." Are there nonfictional people who do that?
