Every once in awhile I have to fight off the urge to go through my blog and delete old posts that I consider stupid or poorly written. I have to remind myself that they’re all part of the journey; I’m a better writer now than I was four years ago, and a better programmer too.

@becky Keep your old writing. I wish my old blog from 2002 still existed. I'd love to see what I wrote way back then…

@becky it’s strange, I have the same feeling... “Why did I write that???” often crosses my mind when reading past posts. PS: I really like your posts, they’re inspiring!

@becky Then there’s the guilt trip you go through after the removal....😞

@iKeating Yeah, that's another thing that keeps me from going through with it!

@vincent I ask that question a lot too. I’m also tempted to delete posts where I wrote excitedly about projects I ended up abandoning. (Oh, and thanks! 😊)

@kimonostereo I know the feeling...I have the login credentials for a couple of my old LiveJournal accounts, but there’s still an older blog or two that got completely lost.

@becky @ikeating @vincent is it a similar argument to letting ‘the statues’ stand .., part of the history ... even if it is a history we don’t like / are embarrassed by ?

@becky I know this feeling well. Props to you for resisting. It can be very difficult to face your past self, but we all grow over time.

@becky That's one of the things I love about having a blog that goes back for years. Many of my old posts are not very good, but every once in a while there's a gem in there, and even the bad ones capture something interesting about the time that I had forgotten.

@becky My micro.blog is being fed from my blog which goes back to about 2005 but all my past posts are hidden. I'm tempted to republish them so, at the very least. my children have something to laugh at in the future

@manton ... like this one from 2014 - that I discovered 2 if not 3 years later which inspired me to write this one - which you have seen before - but now sharing more widely because it supports the notion …

@becky I’ve only deleted one post from my current blog because it was about a specific service and they asked me to when they closed. Other than that, I’m annoyed that my original blog (2003 - 2008) is no longer on the web but then it was run from home and the server died.

@becky Same here. It's a good way of seeing how all our stories have unfolded over the years.
