@khurtwilliams Such a beautiful bird and so easy to observe. Iām still trying to learn the various cardinal songs. Another beautiful red bird I see often is the Summer Tanager and bonus, the female tanager is a very pretty yellow color!
@Denny, thanks for that. I think the lack of engagement with my posts is due to:
- The super small community. For all I know, only five people follow me. š
- The lack of search and discoverability. Itās hard to find other photographers.ā¹ļø
- Lack of Open Graph previews. š¤¬

@Parag, you may be confusing the scarlet tanager with the summer tanager. The Summer Tanagersā range is not supposed to extend that far north.
@khurtwilliams That makes sense! I am not even an amateur birder. I remember a friend pointing out a pretty red bird to me and telling me it is a tanager. Didnāt know about these different varieties.
@Parag Iām not a birder, either. Iām a bird photographer. I use the All About Birds website and Merlin ID app for identification. Otherwise, Iām clueless.
Birders seek to hear, see, and quickly move on to the next bird. Bird photographers aim to capture representations of individual bird species, investing more time for a definitive shot.

@khurtwilliams On the one hand, I understand why manton chose that design for m.b. But sometimes I wish we had a small like button or something. Just a form of appreciation without leaving a full reply.
@khurtwilliams @parag I used to try and be both but I soon realized it was impossible and not fun anymore so I donāt even bring my camera with me on birding trips anymore.
