Three seasons here. Thought there’d be a snowy white fourth but now my journey has unexpectedly changed. The landlord says I can’t live here anymore due to a leaking roof he doesn’t want to fix. Didn’t think I’d be packing up again this quickly and it’s a mystery what will happen in the... blog.hollyhoneychurch.com

@hollyhoneychurch Oh no 😕. It looked like such a cool spot. Wishing you the best of luck in finding a new place.

@hollyhoneychurch I’m glad you are so calm about it, that makes the transition much easier. I’m not very impressed with your landlord! Hope you’ll find something that connects easily with a metropolitan area, so you’ll have the best of both worlds. 💚 ⬅️ In my country they say “Håpet er lysegrønt», (Hope is light green).

@hollyhoneychurch Awww no, that sucks! No idea what that landlord's deal could be not wanting to fix the roof – the problem's only going to get worse 🙄 (We've actually been battling our body corporate for years trying to get them to replace the roof, which is in terrible condition and also leaking, but their argument is that we can just keep patching up the holes...) At any rate, I hope this turns out to be a blessing in disguise and you find yourself somewhere better – preferably somewhere where, as you say, you can get a cat 😊

@hollyhoneychurch That really sucks, I hope you’re able to find a new and better place soon, and a better landlord too. I can’t believe there’s no law that says he has to fix it?

@hollyhoneychurch Beautiful pictures through the seasons. I'm sorry to hear that you can't be there in winter ☹️ I'm confused by the landlord's response though, is he not going to rent out the place ever again?

@odd I have my moments Odd 😅 but I'm figuring out that as much as I could get angry with my brusque and uncaring landlord, it doesn't help me move forward so I'm choosing peace as often as I'm able : ) Thank you! I hope it will be swift and easy too 💚 We're aiming to be in before Christmas 🤞🏻

@jayeless It's weird right? And, wait for it....he's a wealthy builder 🙄 so the whole situation doesn't make sense. Our neighbour has the same problem (and got ignored) but never expressed it in writing to him like we did so somehow the writing has made him flip out. He's an old farmer - he's pretty unstable. Scotland has good rights for tenants and you're not allowed to evict people over winter, but I think the fact that it's happened in the first place has shown us that having an uncaring LL is not worth it. So we've applied for social housing and so far have had a lovely first meet with them.

Is that what a body corporate is? Someone who looks after multiple properties at a reasonable rent? I'm glad you got it patched at least - he wasn't even willing to do that. But I hope you get it resolved eventually (or moved to an even better place?). Yes...immediate permission to have a cat is like a dream come true. They really don't like cats here 🤷🏻

@Miraz I know Miraz. It was very upsetting and feels rather exhausting thinking about the next few weeks. I will miss the location but not the maintenance issues 😅 The good news is we're planning to stay fairly close to the town where I volunteer so I'll still be able to see Pixie yay! And then one day (when I get my finances sorted) I can have my own kitty without even having to ask anyone else's permission. ❣️

@pimoore I'm confused Pete. He's a wealthy builder I should mention also, and made out like it's our fault (that we have to move) for even telling him about the problem in the first place. The most uncourteous reply to a maintenance request I've ever experienced. I know what you're saying and I know tenants in Scotland have really good rights, but staying in a house where the landlord is forced to do something doesn't feel like a peaceful energy to live in😅 Thank you! I'm trusting all of this saga is absolutely perfect and we will find something even better. This little cottage is a little tainted now by the people who own it. It's time to move on ✨

@hollyhoneychurch So sorry to hear this but, as you say, the universe will help you along the way. It’s rather sad that they would do this during this season, but I’m positive you’ll both land on your feet.

@val it appears that he has too many other building projects (more lucrative) to do anything with this little house - not even a patch up job. He would rather have it sit empty (though I bet he tries to rent it out again). He professed to have told us all about the problems before we moved in and that we knew we were on our own with putting up with the situation (nowhere does it say that in the contract, which he also never gave back to us).

We have always been wary of him and his wife as land people. They were never very welcoming and kind. It felt like a weird situation because they had the power to throw you out at any time. His wife would download a lot of negativity onto me whenever I met her and because of the imbalance of power it was difficult to avoid those encounters. And now the fact that we can't even report problems....it's quite ridiculous. I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone 😅

Happy to be free of it in the long run. I think we needed a push that will ultimately be good for us. It was the surrounding nature making us stay as the roof above started failing. Onwards!

@maique Thanks Maique, we haven't quite changed our reputation as travelling hoboes just yet 😅 We've been good tenants, that's why it stings even more. And that it was so sudden and uncaring, I felt deflated when I found out. But, there's an excitement too of the unknown, of the adventure. We're grateful to have a peaceful state of mind, it helps in times of crisis. ❣️

@hollyhoneychurch Ugh. It definitely sounds ideal to rent from someone else. I'm glad you are coming to terms with moving on 💛 sending good vibes for a better living situation (also, I'm glad to see from your reply to Miraz that you will still be able to see Pixie! 😸)

@val yes I agree. We received a confusing message from him tonight (after we said we were going to move out) saying he's already told us he's organised a roofer to come round. I cannae take this unpredictability anymore. He can't mess with us like this. Yes, I'm still excited to see Pixie! She's my sanity in this human world 😅 Get me oot of here!

@aa Thank you Aaron, that's sweet of you to write. Yes I remember that excitement. It was supposed to be our safe, nurturing space but when trouble comes knocking (via the roof : ) I think the universe has something else in store, otherwise we wouldn't be in the middle of a new drama 😅 Yes....bring on the cat love!! 😽

@meandering Thank you for writing Peter 💗 My partner said I deserve 1000 cats after the many years I've gone without one for (and now this new drama too 😅). Happy to have Pixie still in the meantime because having a cat does feel like quite a responsibility especially when I'm used to having so much freedom.
