I sometimes have a hard time understanding why anyone would use anything other than Safari on macOS. It is so fast, uses far less battery, is private, uses macOS APIs for dictionary, passwords, etc., syncs via iCloud to all devices, and is built-in. Why use anything else?

@cdevroe I use Safari almost exclusively, but turn to Vivaldi so I can be logged in to two different hosted Micro.Blogs at the same time. Also occasionally to double check I'm getting a refreshed copy of a page rather than a cached copy.

@cdevroe I use Mac and iOS devices for personal use and always use Safari. I use Chrome for web development things, though. I agree; it just works and is simple.

@ericgregorich Are there any specific features in Chrome you wished Safari had for web dev?

@cdevroe I’ve never tried anything is Safari. I use the Developer tools (F12) extensively in Chrome (Personal) and Edge (Work).

@cdevroe extending Safari has always been garbage. Chrome and FF have a much richer ecosystem for that.

@kaa True, there are way less extensions for Safari. I see that as a feature, since I have the bad habit of accumulating too much tech stuff, but for most users that will probably not be the case.

@kaa What extensions have you found useful?

@cdevroe Agreed, Safari is a fantastic browser. It’s anti-fingerprinting technology is top notch, and content blockers work without JavaScript and having access to all page content.
