@matthewlang I have Signal but don’t really have anyone to use it with.
Is that you? Should we be doing so?
@matthewlang I have it and want to use it but only a handful of people I know have it downloaded.
I’ve notified all my friends that I was deleting WhatsApp today and to contact me via sms or Signal, so we’ll see how that goes.
@matthewlang I tried to convince my family to switch but they moaned it was too “feature light”.
@maique signal got more useful to me whe the pandemic forced the 500 person company to work remotely. Staff wanted a way secure to stay in touch after hours. WhatsApp and other were considered unsuitable by the information security team.
@maique Yup, same here. Most of my friends and family are using WhatsApp, with a few using FB Messenger. I’m not optimistic about persuading them to switch to Signal.
@matthewlang Have been using Signal for a while both with immediate and extended family and friends. I’ve been surprised by the few WhatsApp devotees who’ve been up for using it when I tell them I won’t use WhatsApp!
@matthewlang I use Signal with a couple of people. It works totally fine.
@matthewlang 🙋♂️mainly just as a solid cross-platform messaging app; the security is a bonus
@matthewlang Yes, I am. Under David Johnson. I’ve been using it for sometime and am very happy with it. I use it both for friends here in the US and for texting and chatting with my sister in New Zealand.
@jthingelstad Done. Had not launched it since switching to new phone and did not have local network on so it did not transfer my settings.
@matthewlang yes. I tried when I saw this coming to encourage a lot of people to Signal but most felt they had enough with WhatsApp and F/B messenger.
We use Signal for family chats. It would have been Apple Messages but my wife used Android.
@maique I’m going on the basis that if a contact starts using Signal, I’ll prefer that over WhatsApp for that contact. One person at a time.
