@jemostrom Iâll bite: what is it?
@jean itâs a wooden sword that is used for iaido practice (among other styles). I havenât done it in a long time (5-6 years??) but no students showed up for ju-jutsu so I decided to play around for an hour while waiting for the next group.
@cliffordbeshers yep, my supposed to instruct a ju-jutsu class so I didnât have my steel sword with me ⌠but Iâm currently so out of practice so that was a good thing đ
@odd No, itâs different. This is basically a wooden âstickâ with a basic sword form, used for example in Iaido and Aikido to practice techniques when your are new (as I understand it). In Iaido you then get a âproperâ steel sword (which costs money, but not that much if you buy a ânewbie-swordâ ⌠and a lot of money for the fancy versions).
I got a steel ânewbie-swordâ also and itâs quite a different thing to use that, both easier and more difficult ⌠and there is also the risk of hurting yourself.
