@jean it's a wooden sword that is used for iaido practice (among other styles). I haven't done it in a long time (5-6 years??) but no students showed up for ju-jutsu so I decided to play around for an hour while waiting for the next group.
@cliffordbeshers yep, my supposed to instruct a ju-jutsu class so I didn't have my steel sword with me ... but I'm currently so out of practice so that was a good thing 😝
@odd No, it's different. This is basically a wooden "stick" with a basic sword form, used for example in Iaido and Aikido to practice techniques when your are new (as I understand it). In Iaido you then get a "proper" steel sword (which costs money, but not that much if you buy a "newbie-sword" ... and a lot of money for the fancy versions).
I got a steel "newbie-sword" also and it's quite a different thing to use that, both easier and more difficult ... and there is also the risk of hurting yourself.
