I finally got an Instant Pot. I’m looking for recommendations of the first recipe I should make with it. Something that is foolproof and good, for Instant Success. Soups and stews? No fish or glutens, please! 👩🍳

@macgenie Same here. I've made a few meals with it but nothing yet that couldn't have easily been made in a normal pan. Looking for the 1-pot simple meals I hear so much about. Keep us posted!
@macgenie Speaking from multiple experiences: If you have a larger blender, this is easy and, by far, the yummiest thing I’ve Instapotted. If you have a small blender, this is a nightmare of spilling boiling stock everywhere. :) www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2...
@macgenie hands down, my favorite thing to do in my Instant Pot is risotto! Here is my recipe: cleverdevil.io/2017/pres...
@macgenie I don't know if you are an onion person, but they're great for caramelizing a LOT of onions.
@macgenie oh cool! Please definitely share any great recipes you find! I want to try an artichoke next. I have found it to be a great rice cooker!
@fritter I do have a large blender. A Vitamix that’s been my good friend in the kitchen for 9 years! Question about the recipe: do you brown the steaks first? I would be inclined to cut them into chunks first.
@macgenie I second the risotto. It really does come out great. I’m a big fan of this Bangers and Mash. Also, check out FloLum on YouTube for more great ideas.
@macgenie ... I love our IP!! We love this gf pasta and sauce recipe and this butternut squash soup ... we also love making all sorts of meats for burrito bowls!
@macgenie One of my first successful and fun IP attempts was cooking a spaghetti squash with the tomato sauce (any recipe will work). So much easier than the oven!
@modernlittleme it never occurred to me that one could cook pasta in the IP itself! Genius!!!!!!!!!!
@eli ... we do lots of pasta in there since it’s sooo quick! Mac and cheese is also in rotation here on a weekly basis...
@macgenie Yes!!! Then you are more than all set. :) I think his advice was to cube it, but only bother browning enough meat to cover the pot bottom in a single layer.
@macgenie we have done steel cut oats in ours. Great stuff.
@modernlittleme Thanks for posting that GF pasta instant pot recipe. I’m eager to try it but sort of cautious: my GF pasta experience is that it overcooks so easily. Do you use any specific brand?
@alans ... we use barilla here. We feel it tastes the most like “pasta” here. We haven’t had too many issues with over cooked pasta in the IP here. I think that’s because it’s such a quick cooking time and with other “stuff” in there... not just boiling water.
@modernlittleme My kid is totally on a Mac & Cheese kick. Any chance you’ve got a recipe you can share?
@adiabatic We don't actually do much pasta now (some GF mac and cheese once in a while), but substituting in cauliflower is definitely part of the plan to try replacing rice and rice noodles.
@benjohnson ... my boys both love this mac and cheese and this one recommended to me, but I haven’t tried it yet. Good luck!
@benjohnson also good to note is that we sub in dairy-free Mac and cheese ingredients with no issues. Which is a bonus if you have allergies!
@macgenie person portion, a cup of steel cut oats, a little bit of salt, 1.75 cups of water. Heat insta pot on high, set timer for 4 min. Then let the steam come off naturally, to make oatmeal fluffy.
