Doing an inventory of my domain names, just realized tonight that one expired. Luckily no one grabbed it, so I re-registered it. Spread across four registrars, really cumbersome to keep track of everything.

@manton I know transferring is a bit of a pain but may be worth it for management purposes.
@manton You ain’t kidding. I’ve managed to downgrade to 4 as well. I’ve kept my host provider for 26 years now. They should give me a free parking space. lol.
@manton Apple reminders! I’ve added my two domain renewals to it. I got burned and lost a domain years ago. Someone just squatted on it for a few years, trying to sell it at ridiculous price. They finally released it and I renewed it myself. Whew.
@patrickrhone Yes, I really need to transfer most of them. I’m usually discouraged from doing that because then I have to pay to renew each one right away.
@manton do you have a preferred registrar? I’ve been using Hover since Google killed their domain service, it’s fine I suppose. Curious what other folks use/prefer out there.
@manton Maybe make it a slow rolling two year plan with a commitment to do one or two a month for as long as it takes. The joy of managing (checks own number) a stupid number of domains all in one place is really nice. Also, easier to hit the “let expire” button when you see the cost of them all. Literally just did that tonight.
@jagibson For Micro.blog, we use Name.com to register people’s domains, so I tend to prefer that. Also use Spaceship, Hover, and DNSimple, but nothing really stands out as “the best”.
@patrickrhone Makes sense. And having them in one place would give me confidence I’m not missing something.
@jagibson I have everything on hover now bar dctr.pro because it’s a weird URL it’s with a weird EU provider, dunno why. Lost one domain back in the day and someone sat on it. Just checked it again and got it back today. 👍
@patrickrhone yeah I ditched a few that I had for that reason as well. It becomes an expensive hobby collecting domains if your not careful 🤪
@adamprocter Nice. Glad you got it back. Hover seems to be a good service so far. That dctr.pro is a great domain 🙂
@petecodes.bsky.social I’d like to, just will take some planning. And a couple special TLDs might not be available everywhere.
