@manton Ugh. I'm glad nothing of true value to you was taken!

Good to hear that it was nothing priceless missing.

And now I want to check on my storage unit when I get back home.

@manton Or maybe not public enough? The thief could go about their business unobserved. I sometimes see people putting the stuff they want to get rid of on the curb with a notice that anything can be taken. Since it's so in the open, nothing is taken.

@manton Ugh, that sucks so bad. Glad the impact seems minimal. To me, for the most part "stuff is just stuff" but what gets me is the uncertainty of loss or theft and not entirely knowing if things went missing, even for years. And the flip side of that, wondering where some things went off to over the years...

@manton Oof, so sorry to hear this happened to you. Certainty hope the stuff that’s important to you is still there.

@manton Ah damn that's crap. We made this choice as well and I can't imagine dealing with the unknown more than anything else. We even think of the rental on the container as part of our full rent so it doesn't really feel like a disconnected space from our home...

Your advice at the end is exactly what I've come to understand with this most recent move of ours; now that we live exactly where we want to, and both feel confident that we're not going to live in any other region within the country I've suddenly realised the fragility of our valuable items.
