Added a new backup feature to Micro.blog for Mac. I think it’ll help folks who don’t routinely backup their blog. Once a week it automatically downloads all posts, photos, and other uploads to a .bar file. On by default and keeps the last 5 backups.

@manton Does it backup the videos? I have to get this running on my always on mac

@bobfa Videos is a missing piece right now, it will backup older videos but the new streaming videos (starting last year) will currently be missed because they are stored differently. I want to fix that, but need to think about the much larger file size. Might be a separate option.

@manton Nice! I’m lazy about backups and this will be helpful. Thanks!

@manton what the hell is a .bar file - i've been an engineer for 27 years and i have no idea what this is lol

@tg It’s a new format I invented with help from IndieWeb folks as a container for blog posts. Basically just a ZIP file with HTML, JSON, etc. I’d love to see more people support it!

@tg More info: blogarchive.org

@manton i should have done this with sourcefeed. got any docs I can take a gander at?

@manton @tg pointer to the spec?

@manton .bar == …backup archive?

@veganstraightedge Almost, the “b” stands for “blog” in this case (although it could be used for other things).

@manton oh duh :smh:

neat!
