@microcaststudio You mentioned that you use Garage Band to edit podcasts. Could you describe that more? Do you also record them there? What kind of editing do you do? One thing I wanted to do was a cross fade with intro music and speaking but couldn’t figure it out.

@bennorris Good questions! I will answer them in a post. What did you use to edit your microcast?

@microcaststudio I created the music in Garage Band, and then recorded and edited in Wavelength. I recorded a number of segments, and the “editing” was just splitting and deleting the pauses at the beginning and end of each, or deleting a segment.

@microcaststudio Ans I look forward to the post! That sounds perfect.

After doing the first one, I looked Otho Auphonic and it seems they have the ability to set up a cross faded intro and outro for each episode which sounds perfect. I’d like to try that out. And getting the processing and leveling done would be nice.

@bennorris Auphonic can do that, and it's probably the most efficient to create a template, especially if you use Wavelength, which can't layer tracks. In GarageBand, you can add anchor points to the volume automation for fading in and out. I tend to favor this because I obsess over the exact cross-fade point.

@microcaststudio Sweet! I’ll try that out tomorrow. I’m trying to keep it all on iOS, so if Garage Band can do that, it’ll be perfect for me.

@microcaststudio I created a preset in Auphonic and tried uploading my episode from earlier, and found that it didn’t use the preset (as I suspected). How do I get Wavelength to use that preset when processing the podcast audio?

@bennorris Oh, I don't think we have a way to do it. @manton would have to look at whether the integration can work with presets.

@macgenie Sounds good. Maybe I’ll try out Ferrite or editing in Garage Band for the next episode and see how things go. Thanks!

@bennorris I am not in any way a “professional “ with this stuff and I easily figured out how to go this using Ferrite.

@adrianizq Thanks for the encouragement! I’ll give it a try soon. And nice work! I liked the music on the Task Managers episode a lot.

@bennorris thanks! I made it in garage band. I’m also not a musician lol. I’d like to put some more episodes out, just haven’t found the time.
