Made a short 2-minute video about Micro.blog cross-posting to other services, especially manually copying a post to Threads. I’ve been using this feature quite a bit. Also useful if you just want a little more control.

@manton This is great. Thanks, Manton. I had automatic crossposting to BlueSky turned on for a while but I prefer this: it gives me more control.

@manton Nice! Did you get a chance to see if LinkedIn is working, if not maybe it can be added to this list of ‘others’?

@manton that’s cool. I noticed something strange though. I cross posted to both Mastodon and Threads with that method and the link was to just the first image in the post, not the post itself, and photos weren’t posted natively in either case. All photos posted natively to Bluesky, however.

@bryan That's correct unfortunately, there's no way to attach photos to Threads. For Mastodon, I do plan to work around this so that it's more consistent with the automatic cross-posting to include the photos. I'll be updating that soon. (Bluesky already works that way too.)

@kaa I ran into problems with LinkedIn. Need to rethink it a little, but I do want to add it.

@manton looking forward to LinkedIn crossposting capabilities! I’ve hooked it up to the feed.json rss crossposting, but much prefer having the button option.

@manton With automatic crossposting to BlueSky links are included in the post. But when I crossposted an individual post, the bare URL was included at the end of the post instead. I think I might try turning on automatic crossposting for some posts and turning it off again for most!

@artkavanagh Yes, that's right, manual and automatic work differently, because the manual cross-posting essentially starts with the text of the post, not the full Markdown or HTML. Choose whichever you prefer!

@manton This is very helpful. I actually didn’t know about manual cross posting. At the moment I only cross post to BlueSky which seems to be growing quickly. The BlueSky iPhone app is very fast. I’m still looking for accounts to follow.
