My wife has decided to develop a Halloween movie advent calendar to match my Christmas movie advent calendar… do you have suggestions?
@mbkriegh I love The Burbs for that mix of funny and mildly spooky. The greatest Halloween movie of all time is Halloween (1978). We watch Hocus Pocus and Practical Magic every year. Actual horror movies: Let the Right One In (original 2008 Swedish version) and The Witch (2015). Completely campy but I love it: The Wicker Man (1973). It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown is indispensable.
Ummm, I love Halloween and Halloween movies and I could go on and on and on.
@jabel we are watching Edward Scissor Hands right now. I also think Nesferatu, Werner Hertzog version is essential…
@mbkriegh must-see every Halloween season among my people: Young Frankenstein. And, yes, my husband and I can and will quote along with the whole movie which is probably why we have to watch it alone 😸

Add my vote for Herzog's Nosferatu — so good, so weird. Excited for Robert Eggers's version coming out later this year. Would also add The Innocents (1962); easily the best Turn of the Screw adaptation
