I’ve finally purchased and switched to Pocket Casts on my phone. In a week or two I’ll write up a comparison of it to Google Play Music for podcast listening but I’m pretty sure anything will be better than GPM.

@cdevroe been a long time user of PocketCast, even on iOS where it has a lot of competition. But overall user experience & feature list wise, it has to be the best.

On Android, could never find any option that came close.

@amit I used to use it heavily, but as the list grew, Castro become my default podcatcher (are they even called that anymore?) of choice.

@kaa Yes, every now and then I keep going back to Overcast and Castro. Even though I like some features those 2 offer, for me personal I prefer the user experience with PocketCasts.

Regarding longer lists, yeah that’s a problem. Not experience wise, but in terms of time at hand - just not enough.

@amit @cdevroe The thing I like about Pocket Casts is that, unlike the more popular Overcast, it lets you download individual podcasts. I could never find a way to stop Overcast trying to download everything at once.

@stefp Exactly, assumption that a user either wants every episode from a podcast automatically downloaded or wants none is so misguided. The belief, it seems, is one would never decide whether to download an episode, manually only when it arrives. Well I do, for every episode.

@stefp I keep my podcatchers set to autodownload so perhaps that never bothered me.
