@jean maybe would help if there was a tab for (say) the latest 5 - 10 - 50 people to join … rather than having them buried in the discover section?

@JohnPhilpin That seems like a good idea! Seconded.

@Miraz @JohnPhilpin Not only do I agree with this, but the idea has been in Jason's Discover suggestions for years. I remember making an introductory short post with the 👋 emoji. A timeline filled with these posts would make Jean's proposal an achievable goal and be a big improvement to discovery.

@issimonwoods This is a really wonderful idea. I sure don't want to sound too pushy, but the user discover section of Micro.Threads helps me a lot. Pulls out the new users that I don't follow but I should from both timeline and dicover. // @Miraz

@jean This is absolutely something I aim to be better at this year. Posting on my blog and reaching out and engaging with others. I’ve been here a while but haven’t really scratched the surface yet. So hi! I’m David 😊👋

@kimberlyhirsh Ah, so glad you found it useful. When I first thought of this, threads/user discovery wasn't the target. But I soon realised those are what I needed more. Than recommendations.

@JohnPhilpin @Miraz @issimonwoods The most recent 50-100 people will be almost all spammers, unfortunately. It really does take human curation to figure out which new posts are actually from people who might want to participate in this community. But I’ll confer with @manton about whether there are ways to help you find genuine new people. We have had a couple ideas on making following lists more useful too.

@jean yikes … didn’t know it was that bad … maybe adding a gating factor of (say) 5 posts might help?

@jean That's one of the reasons why I thought a new filter would help. Of course not every new person will necessarily create an introductory post but I still think it's a good way to merge the curated welcome -- through which people could even be encouraged to make an introductory post; there's the Welcome page, your welcome reply, email, maybe even more -- with the discovery feature we do have.

I'm curious, if you can say, do the spammers use "hello world" or any other such traditional intro posts from non-spammers?

@jean Ugh spammers!!! Thanks so much for working so hard on keeping them out. Not sure I've ever, even once, seen a spam post so you're doing something extremely right. 💜

@martinfeld Hello! Right now I can honestly say the community. So inviting, welcoming and supportive. If I had to list the features enjoyed, I'd say the ease and speed of getting my new website launched. Once my Wordpress-hosted subscription runs out, I'll likely be migrating everything over here!
