From an article and discussion with the Humane founders, Imran Chaudhri and Bethany Bongiorno, from Om Malik’s new site Crazy Stupid Tech:

“We had to stand up and accept the critique and feedback in front of our team, in front of the public, and just continue to push forward every single day,” Bongiorno said. “And it was really hard. Hard and painful. You’re right, it is really hard to get a second chance.”

I still think the Ai Pin was too ambitious for 1.0. I’d like to see a slimmed down version, no laser, just solve a couple small problems with voice.

@manton I find it ironic that their Pin was not accessible. Us blind folks would have been the perfect market for them as we already gravitate toward non-visual solutions. But nope, couldn't even get through the setup independently. :(

@SteveSawczyn That's disappointing. It's exactly the kind of device that should be great without visuals.

@manton But why do we need yet another device for this? The computer on our pockets or maybe even on our wrists can do it. My issue with these devices is that they are completely replaceable by software running on our already existing devices. (As I was typing, it occurred to me that maybe even AirPods can do that in the future…

@SteveSawczyn That would have been an awesome vertical for this tech. Sorry it didn't happen.
