I’m becoming a single-issue voter in local elections. I live downtown in a major city and it’s ridiculous that I need to own two cars. I don’t leave Nashville all week. I should be able to safely get to church, coffee shops, and soccer without a car. 🚲 🚋 🚌

@marmanold Absolutely. It’s past the time that local and regional governments plan for, allow for, encourage all the possible forms of moving around cities and towns. So many benefits. Car-centered planning needs to end.

@Denny @marmanold Agree wholeheartedly. Problem is the auto manufacturers stand to lose too much profit if that happens, hence their lobbying governments to maintain the status quo.

@pimoore @Denny @marmanold As a blind guy, I couldn't agree more. Transpertation is often a challenge, even in urban areas as bus services and light rails experience budget cuts and reduced service. I was lucky to be an exchange student in Germany many years ago and I loved how public transportation was more the norm, would love to see that become more of a norm here.

@Denny Totally agree. I saw a post the other day about a “street closing” and the comment on the associated picture was, “Street experiments do not close streets. They RE-OPEN them as public spaces that allow local communities to thrive!” 👍🏻
