Funny how “billionaire” is now effectively a synonym for “anyone rich”. It’s almost a cheat — like a shortcut to describe venture capital or any profit. Won’t anyone think of the poor millionaires who are unfairly grouped together with the super-rich? 🤪

@manton These days, a "millionaire" can be an ordinary person who bought a three-bedroom tract home in Santa Barbara in 1972 for $35,000 that's now worth seven figures. I know a couple of people in that (very fortunate) position and they are most assuredly not the 1%. 🤪
@larand It's true. Unfortunately there's not a precise word for someone whose wealth is (for example) $50 million. Although "rich" is still pretty good!
@larand Seattle, too. We paid $ 145,000 in 1989. Value was as high as $1.2M, now a hair under a mil.
