I was having mixed feelings about Season 2 of Ted Lasso but E5 removed all doubt. It is clear that the show is self aware, and I think they are the best when they are unabashedly joyous. I posit that E4 felt a bit weird because they don’t need a Christmas setting to manifest joy.

@samgrover I felt exactly the same. I couldn't identify what was off, if it was too uneventful or slow to develop, but I only had those genuine post-episode good feelings (as with S1) with E5.

@samgrover Same here. S2 feels like they are trying too hard, being goofy just to be goofy. The episode where they broke the forth wall…I had to rewind to figure out if I had missed something.

@mcg I did read somewhere that the writers understood S2 would be like S1 and release the first three episodes at once, which they did not. So the pacing was off with a week between each.
