Reminder that when you’re angry, lashing out at people who are not the problem is counterproductive. It sometimes feels like we’re all balancing on a knife’s edge. I get it. But I’m done with the outrage machine. It’s performative.

@manton Lashing out never changes or fixes any problem. In fact, it has as much of an effect as hope or belief. But it does tend to make things worse locally.

@manton very much with you. I’m tired of the „look how outraged I am posts“ about things that really are nothing in the grand scheme of things. But I’m afraid we are going to get even more of those starting yesterday.

@manton The bad energy jumping around reminds me of the old metal balls bouncing this way and that in pinball machines, but less fun. That’s when collateral damage occurs, or intentional harm to the wrong ones.

@manton Too much performative outrage and too little self-reflection.

@manton IDK - every therapist I’ve ever known encourages people to talk when they are upset. Looking for a community to understand what bothers us and who share our feelings is kind of the point of having a community. This “keep it to yourself” ethos and the labeling people who don’t as performative isn’t something I can get behind.

@amerpie To be clear, I think it’s healthy to talk when we’re upset. That’s part of why I have a blog, to write down my thoughts and emotions. But not personal attacks on other people.

@manton Thanks for the clarification. It looks like I walked into the middle of a conversation. I’ve picked up a little bit of the context elsewhere. At first glance, it looked like a bunch of white guys telling throwing shade on people for being upset.
